hi

Do you keep your unit plugged in at home all the time with the charger going? The reason I ask is that my Freedom 458 inverter charger is putting out 14v after the batteries are full(float). From past experience with these 6V batteries 13-13.5V is max otherwise you will cook the batteries. I have talked to Xantrax and they agree but going into the settings thru the remote panel will not reduce the Voltage . So after the battery's are fully charged I unplug the unit or turn of the charger. How do you manage your charging and what Float charge Volts are you getting when full?

Do (well DID) I keep it plugged when at home before it became full time home? YES.

is 14 volts too much once the batteries are charged: YES

Suggestion: Have the inverter/converter fixed.

It may not be a problem with the charger, it could be a battery problem.
If the batteries are discharged down a little, say around 12.4 volts and recharged how long do they stay in the acceptance mode? Do they switch over to float because the charging amperage gets low like it should or does it switch to float on the timer, one hour for wet cells if you don't have the link 1000? If it goes to one hour your batteries may be the problem.

Not going to float may be a dead cell in one of the batteries.

My Freedom 10 is plugged in all the time. I do set the remote to Power share 5 AMP and the batteries seem to use less water at that setting.

Do check the water level often at the 14V charging rate.

My original Inverter has been replaced with a Magnum Energy unit. It float charges at 13.4 volts. Full charge is 12.8 volts. I'm FT, so it is plugged in all the time.

Sounds like you may have an Inverter problem.

One question / suggestion: How are you measuring voltge?

Use a DIGITAL multi meter of known accuracy at the batteries themselves please.
