chassis

Does anyone know what chassis my 36' Dolphin motor home is on? It is a Ford Chassis however I don't know what type. I want to purchase ABS brake sensors and they need to know the chassis. Also does anyone hava a suggestion on where to purchase them, other than a Ford Dealer?
Thanks,
Doug

Check RockAuto Auto Parts I don;t know about that specific part but I've had good luck find F53 ford parts there.

If it has a V10 or a 460 engine it is a Ford and an F53 chassis. All Ford Class A chassis are designated F53. From 1997 back, the engines were 460. Ford did not make a 1998 chassis. Begining in 1999 all F53s have the V10. These chassis did have different GVWRs, but should not have anything to do with an ABS sensor. Any decent large auto parts store should have them or can get them, just check.

Thanks to all. One more question, does anyone know where the OBD 11 connector is to reset the ABS light?

The OBDII port is located on the right side of the steering column about 18"-24" off the floor. It is a b*tch to find due to getting on your back with the drivers seat and doghouse in the way.

Onmine I removed the shroud under the steering column, then could see where the connector was. You don't need to remove the shroud to get things plugged in, once you see where it's at and orientation.

I may be a tad late with this but your chassis is a Ford Super Duty F-53 model. Workhorse is strictly GM. It should be rated at 22,000 lbs.

Are the abs wheel sensors damaged? Having worked for ford for many years I have changed 0 abs wheel sensors. They are very rugged and usually a wiring problem has caused the code set. Disconnecting the battery may not clear any codes and if so, codes for wheel sensors will reset with just a few yards of travel. Low brake fluid level can set a code as well as the float in the master cyl res. The float gets waterloged with brake fluid and sinks. Just take the cap off and see if the float is there, if not replace the res. There is also a rear wheel speed sensor on top of the rear end mounted into the diff. You do not need to drain the diff to remove and check for wear. If you find the rear sensor worn, the carrier bearings need replaced. Hope this helps
