I'm planning on replacing my theater in my 2006 Tradewinds 40D. There is a subwoofer in the cabinet adjacent to the dining table in the front drivers side slide. Unfortunately this sub is fed by line outs (speaker wire). Most new AV receivers including the Yamaha I'm going to use have a LFE (RCA type connector) to the sub. I need to install a co-axial cable from the passenger overhead to the slide out. Has anyone done this or know the existing electric wiring enters the slide out?

Thanks,

Paul

Why not just put an RCA end on the speaker twin lead cable. Speaker signals on low power systems are non that critical unless they are running beside something that induces AC or RF into the cable.

It appears the existing speaker wire pair does run right next to the romax power line that feeds an 110V outlet in the same cabinet. Are you saying the LFE signal can be carried on the two speaker wires? Do you know of an RCA to two wire harness adapter?

thank you!

If a two lead, not coax, speaker wire was installed beside a 110vac line and you had no interference on that speaker then you shouldn't have a problem.

I do not know of an adapter... Just purchase a RCA male plug from Radio Shack and solder the two wires to the RCA. You should look at the other end of the wire and see which one of the wires goes to the negative terminal of the audio device then solder that lead to the shield side of the RCA connector and the other one to the center pin.

I doubt if your ears can detect the difference in coax or twin lead speaker cable unless interference is induced into the cable.
