A nice direct replacement for the dash stereo is available. I replaced mine, its an exact fit uses the same wiring harness and is a nice upgrade. Stereo includes functions such as an ipod interface, sirius ready, aux inputs (RCA's in back) plus mini jack in front, weather band, etc. I'm very happy with mine.
Info can be found on:

I also hooked up external speakers. I can provide pictures if anyone is interested. The setup is really nice. I put banana jacks and a remote volume control in the storage compartment. I'm using Jensen outdoor speakers mounted on Craftsman tripod utility light stands.

Again very happy with the results.

Mike,
What was the MOD number of the stereo you replaced. I have a VR185 and it sometimes acts up.

I believe my old stereo was the VR185. I know it had both cassette and CD. My model did not have rear RCA aux inputs although I saw some did in researching on ebay. If it wasn't the VR185 it looked identical. I can tell you that the VR182 would be a direct replacement for it. The VR182 also came with the special tools you need to remove the old unit.

By the way I was just looking for info. on my old stereo and I see someone is selling the VR182 on ebay. I have no connection at all with them but if you're interested here is the link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=1602...25&_trksid=p390 7.m29

I bought mine from Kingstonsales.com for $249.

Mike
