Dashboard Generator start switch

2000 Tropical 6373, generac 55g Generator. I can start it at the Generator but not on the dash switch. When running, indicator light and hour Meter work and I can shut it down with Dash switch, is there a fuse someplace?
Replaced switch but same problem. Thanks,

Jug

If you've replaced the dash switch, you'll need to trace the wire from the switch to the generator. Test the switch terminals for 12 v power and then trace the wire to the generator.

I had that situation on my Generac and it seemed to be low battery. If the engine was running it would start from the dash switch. Try that and/or turing on the start boost switch if you have one. It seems to me that if the indicator light and hour meter work and you can shut it off from there, the wiring in between is most likely fine.

Hi i seem to have same problem. My question is the generator have a separate battery or does it get power from main battery sourse.

Most usually the generator is on the chassis (engine) battery. If you have a 'boost' switch on the dashboard, you can tie the chassis and house batteries together for 'jump start.'
