day night shades 1.2mm or 1.4mm thread

Hi Folks,

I have a 2002 National Dolphin 5355...

My wife and I are looking to restring a couple of day night shades. We came across a web-site that sells two thicknesses.

1.2mm

1.4mm

Anyone have an idea what size National used in 2002?

TIA,
Roger

Not sure of the size you need, but I also was going to purchase on the net and ran into the same problem.

I cut a piece off of the broken shade string and took it to a local drapery/shade store. (not a big box store)
They sold me the correct size and charged me about 3/4's less then what it cost on the internet.

Send a message via AIM to stearn
If you checkout www.fixmyblinds.com they will have a diagram that will help you. I bought braded fish line at cabelas. It was suggested on this forum some time ago, I think it was 130# test. The idea was better UV protection.

What tools did you use to restring the blinds?

Any advice is greatly appreciated...

TIA,
Roger

.
The only thing I used was the string/cord and a large enough needle to thread the cord through. I got the needle at a local craft store, i think it was actually for knitting or crochet. It has a blunt tip.

I had a string break once on one of my blinds. Took the blind down and found the companies label on the bottom of the bottom metal piece. I called the company and they gladly sent me new string and directions for restringing free of charge. I'm sure you could do the same.
