On our '05 Dolphin, the owner's manual says the coach has DRLs, but ours don't work. I assume the clear bulb in the lower light unit is for the DRL but they don't come on under any condition (engine running, in gear, wipers on, etc.). I had the coach in to the dealer to fix a headlight mount and aim the lights, and the tech. stated there were no DRLs. Do your DRLs work? Is this a chassis issue (Workhorse vs. Ford)?
On a related issue, you can buy a module for the headlights that lights both the high and low beam simultaneously when you select high beams. Has anyone installed one on a National coach or GM SUV that has the same headlight unit? Seems like a good idea because the Dolphin headlights are not that good.

We have them and they do work. It's not like you can't see 23,000 lbs of motorhome coming at you with out them. If we didn't have them, or if they didn't work, I wouldn't spend .10 cents getting them to work unless it was covered under warranty. You could just drive with your headlights on if you think it would help.
We have a Workhorse W24 Chassis

Check your parking brake release lever!
There may be a switch there that controls when the DRLs come on. Mine is intermittent.
Jiggling the parking brake release lever a few times always gets the DRL to work for me.
One of these days I will crawl under dash and check it out and adjust it. Ditto for the cruise control brake switch.

We don't have a lever. We have a push pull button right by the gear selector.

Several years ago my DRL's quit working. I took it in to Redlands Truck and they replaced a module under warranty. I believe it is a Workhorse issue. The part number is #12088547 and was called "Module, Running Lights.

Wow, never thought about it, but IF our 06 Dolphin LX has them, they don't work.

My '01 Dolphin came with them...I really saw no practical use for them....something this big...so I pulled the 20 AMP fuse.
Kept it tho....in case I ever change my mind. All these extra (I consider DRLs "extra") power drains are just fine until the battery starts to go away.
Had that happen on a car I owned...

I often travel with a friend driving a 40' Beaver MH. It's dark in color. If he drops back a ways with no lights on, he becomes less noticable. So I call him and tell him to turn his driving lights on. BIG difference.

I hate to hijack this thread, but I have a related question. The headlights have failed on my 2000 National Sea View, and I can't help but think it is related to the DRLs. This RV is on a Ford chassis. The headlights won't work under any condition, switch off or on. (My DRLs worked fine until now.)
Does anyone know where the Power Distribution Center is on this Ford Chassis? According to my book it is in the engine compartment, but I haven't found it. This is the block that contains the higher energy fuses and relays. It contains a power fuse for the headlights, and a relay for the DRLS.
I have checked all the fuses in the block in the Drivers arm rest; all good.
Sorry for being wordy; thanks much.

The 20 AMP fuse I pulled to disable the DRLs was in the front of the motor...a large black box that holds a bunch of fuses and relays.
Even tho the fusebox looked a bit different from what the owners' manual showed...I found the fuse I was looking for quite easily.

OK, I found the power distribution center - right where I had been looking. Perhaps the big name on it distracted me. Anyway, all the fuses having anything to do with the lights are fine. I'll replace the DRL relay and see if that's it. Then, I don't know. Is there another module for the DRLs?

The relay that controls the DRLs also controls the headlights. Pull that...and you've got nothing.
I found that out the hard way. Just wanting to get rid of the DRLs, I pulled the 20AMP fuse.
I don't think there's anything else (relays, fuses) controlling the headlights or DRLs.
But keep exploring. Y'never know what you can come up with. Good luck.
