My 17 foot awning is broke. I left it out and did not have one end dipped down. Bad storm last night and the roll up tube bent right in half.

I was able to roll it back up manually and need to buy a new awning.

Looks like they go for about $900 deliverehas anyone done anything this stupid?

Yep, I came back and it looked like the coach was going to tip over. We had to push up on the canopy to let some water out so that we could lower one end. My insurance company paid to repair and replace the stretched awning and the tube.

Yep! Welcome to the club. Whenever I do something really dumb, there are always about a thousand people around to notice how really stupid I am.

Yup! I can honestly say that in the 30 plus years that I have been in and out of RVing, I have done some stupid things. It is all part of RVing but I love it! We all make mistakes and I am sure that there will be more.
Good Day!

I think having an awning issue is something that just about everyone has had, or will have in the future, during their RV'ing careers. Sooner or later, not matter how prepared you are an unexpected storm or wind can come up.

Question what broke.. Pick from list:

1: Fabric? (It can be replaced for less than the cost of new awning)
2: Roller tube (likewise, check with salvage yards too)
3: Manual awning arms: Check with RV-salvage places
4: Automatic awnaing arms... Check with RV-salvage
5: Electric motor on automatic awning: 400 bucks
6: SPRING... See note below)

Note: From the sound of it you either have an automatic or you have a manual and the spring broke.. if it is just the spring... You should be able to replace it via RV-Slavage places. But if the tube bent.. Then .. Well. you might have noticed a theme to my post

Replace JUST what's broke via RV-salvage.

Thanks for your responses

I replaced the entire awning with new Domitec 9000 elite for $800 and $100 labor. I will never do that again.
