I have a 2000 National Tradewinds and was working on the refrigerator door light switch. It seems like I touched the wrong wires together because it burned out the light bulb. Now the refrigerator won't come on. Need to know where the fuses are.

It's highly unlikely you could short out any wires around the light or switch that would burn out the light - the only voltage in those areas is 12 volts, and since that is the design voltage for the bulb, there's no way a short would supply excess voltage. Sure, you might create a short to ground potential that MIGHT damage the switch - but that's about all.

I'm betting on a blown fuse or circuit breaker - and also bet that when you fix that, the light and switch will again work properly as well...

Look for a folder called "Dometic 7030-7732 Service Manual", I'm pretty sure it's the same as mu 1999 Tradewinds.

Take any of these documents you need.

Dale, I didn't see any fuses on the Dometic wiring diagram. Most, if not all, of the 12 volt fuses for the MH are located on the 12V power Distribution Panel, under a plastic cover, in the rear bay, passenger side. Most fuses have a LED that lights up when the fuse blows. Rook

John. going back to electricity 101 class. You have voltage and amperage. when you short two wires together, you have 12V but your amps shoot up and blow the fuse.

Outside, open the access panel, on the left is a black box, remove the cover, inside is the fuse you blew. It is an odd fuse but Auto Zone and Radio Shack both should have replacements.

If you have to ask how I know this........ Well.... Yours is the 2nd verse of this same song.

I'm up to 150 MEG of PDF files now and it seems to be growing all the time.

Most of that stuff can be had somewhere on the web but it's handy all in one spot.

I figure it's like a new Freightliner Chassis. They are now giving all the doc's on a memory stick. I was runnung out of cabinet space in the coach and on more than one occasion have received "THE LOOK" when DW opened a door and a big blue folder fell out.

Wayne a 2000 may or may not have the outside door, I've seen both 1999 didn't and somewhere in the 2000 production run they were added. Sure wish mine had one, standing on my head to access the Freightliner Panel is a pain.

2. Yup, I realize the "amps vs voltage" bit - and It's STILL unlikely that any short in the area the OP specified could apply INCREASED (over the 12 volts the bulb is rated for!) voltage to the bulb and blow it - but a direct short from the load side of the door switch to ground COULD possibly damage the switch contacts either BEFORE the fuse blows - or if the fuse is of a higher amp rating than proper...
