Folks,

Our 2005 National Dolphin
5342 has a Dometic Saebreeze 511H toilet with a spay hose (see PDF here) which leaks water every time you step on the foot pad – the volume of spray increases when you press the lever on the spray, but leaks a sizable stream of water when you release it. (right now the rule is aim the spray into the toilet BEFORE you step on the foot pad! The part I’m speaking of is #16 and the attached hose on the PDF linked to above.

I’ve purchased a replacement hose and sprayer: Link and before I manhandle the toilet, I thought I’d ask for some words of wisdom from the forum.

Do I have to remove the toilet (take out the 4 nuts on the mounting bolts) or is there another (smarter) way?

Thanks again for you help and suggestions.

JJ

BTW I have yet to tackle the water tank sensor problems, Stay tuned for that report.

I replaced just the sprayer head with one from Home Depot. Just unscrewed the head and screw the new one on. If you bought the hose and head together, just take the new head and put it on the old hose. No need to disconnect from the plumbing. There will be no water flow if you don't step on the lever.

Here’s the rest of the story:

I spent $4 for an inspection mirror and got into the throne worship position. Using an LED light and the mirror I saw that the sprayer hose did in fact have a tiny hose clamp (just above a nylon cable tie – put there for the confusion factor I’m sure). A small ratchet and socket and the old hose came off. I managed to drain the water in the hose into the toilet, then installed the new hose and tighten the hose clamp. Works like a champ.

Before I ordered the replacement, I brought home a sprayer from the local ACE Hardware but the hose had a special connector that was much more complicated than the one on the Seabreeze toilet. Also the sprayer is permanently attached to the hose so I couldn’t just swap out the old one.

Thanks again for the help.

Next task is to locate the water tank level sensors.

JJ
