I guess there are alot of 2000 tradewinds model 7373 owners that do not know the purpose of the latch that is on the door frame high up on windshield side as you open the door. It is adjustable with two screws in it. I just noticed it the other day. If you are an owner of one like mine please let me know the purpose of this latch. I dont think it has anything to do with the step as one has suggested. Thanks, Rivrduk

I have that latch on my 99 Tradewinds and there is a spring on my door in the same location. When the spring goes over the latch it helps hole the upper front of the door in place thus reducing wind noise on the road. If you want I can post pictures of both pieces. That is if your spring is missing from your door.

Dick

Dick, post the pics so I can see if I'm missing something. I thought it was the goodie that moved the steps in and out as you closed or opened the door.

Here are the pictures. First picture shows both the Jamb Latch and the Door Spring. The second picture shows where it's located, near the top on the hinge side of the Jamb.

I know that I asked this before, but does anyone know where to get that particular rubber door seal for our doors. My guy doesn't show it and I really need to replace it as my entry is getting wet from the door leaking from the top when it's raining and parked.

My best guess is that the gasket on the door is a Trimlok Product,
Rubber Seal

Call them and be sure the dimensions and attach method correct. If you do find the correct gasket please post so we can all get some. The PO of my coach added regular foam windoe gasket and it helps but still the right thing would be much better.

If you have to buy direct from Trimlok then we should all get together and then one guy won't have to buy 500 ft and use 15 ft. Also the cost would be eaiser if we went together and bought the quanity they require.

Thanks Dick

Found it... It looks as if it is their cat # X-1058 on page 28 and comes in 250' rolls. But I can't get anymore info as it won't download the number or catalogue..

Check style 7 on this page under Foam rubber Bulb Seals about 1/3 down the page or search this page for 93085K18.
McMaster-Carr

You may be able to get the right size.

I just found that Allegis Corp. is a distributor and they have an office in Tukwilla,Wa. which is kinds close and I am getting a quote for a 50' roll. I'll let you guys know what it is. Knowing how my handy man projects have been going lately,I'll probably need a whole roll.
My stepwell project went ok till I started putting the wood pieces in and discovered that even tho I had measured SEVERAL times and actually cut a tad large and did trim several pieces down, that the stepwell itself was off square...Bummer....

I see this thread has "Morphed" from the purpose of the latch (Helps to stablize the door when it's closed, Helps to keep it closed) to the gasket and wind noise.

Well, I just answered the subject questin.. It's just part of what keeps the door properly closed. I dont' see this too much on swinging doors, but this kind of thing is very common on sliders.. A bit of extra strength is all it is there for.
