While doing a routine drain of old water from my fresh water tank, I noticed that it was draining at a slooooow rate, so I decided I would read the manual to see if there was a vent or something that I could open to make things happen faster. The manual says, "be sure the vent for the tank is clear so the system is properly vented for faster draining". They must have read my mind! However, not one word is mentioned as to where the vent is located and how to get to it! Does anybody know?
Then, reading the part about sanitizing the tank....."pour the solution into the water tank through a special fitting located on the tank".......does anyone know where this fitting is and how to get to it?
UH.....these manual writers could use some help. Rook

On my Winnebago, the vent is attached to a small tube that runs from the top of the tank, to just above the outside filler hole. My vent hose was kinked, making the job of filling the tank a chore earlier this year. I keep my tank sanitized by adding 1/4 cup of bleach to the tank before filling. We don't use this water for drinking or cooking though, just for flushing the toliet while traveling.

Well, I have decided the tank will slowly drain until empty....it's getting air from somewhere. And.....I can pour bleach into the water hose, connect it and flush it into the tank...that will work. However, it would be nice to know where the vent and the referenced fill plug is located. Rook

After I finally found my drain valve it took forever for mine to drain as well... We're in the process of moving the valve to the clean out cabinet outside from underneath the bed, but the drain is small and these things hold "9 million gallons!!"!!!
As for Chlorine in the Holding tank... Be careful... You can't ever flush these out 100% so using a chemical like that is a little scarry for me... I use something that does the same thing, only its non-toxic... I can't think of the name of the stuff, but i kno we got it at CW and it takes that "hose filled" flavor out of the water... Its expensive but you use like 3 cap fulls in an 80 gallon tank... its great stuff.. I'll find it and post it later...

You can also take the cap off where you fill the tank (if you have one) and that will act as vent. If you use a hose attachment to put bleach that is acting as a vent.

TheBeachous.....I only use 1/4 cup of bleach to 15 gallons of water. That is what is recommended. That makes a 5% Hypochlorite Solution. This level of chlorine is just a bit stronger than "normal city water".....but kills mold, fungus, etc. Rook
