Sometime in the past I read that driving with the coach furnace on was not advisable. I have read all the literature that came with my coach and cannot find anything related to this. I'm planning a trip to Texas in a few weeks and know that I'll be running into some chilly weather and using the furnace while driving would keep entire coach warm inside. Does anyone know of any safety issues related to driving with the furnace on.

Fred,
Not sure if your question is directed only to those who own National RV brands or if you're interested in response from owners of other brands, but I've run my furnace in the fifth wheel several times to keep the water lines from freezing up while traveling. I can't think of any reasons safety would be at additional risk with the trailer moving as opposed to stationary.
Actually, after pondering it, in a trailer it'd be safer while moving because no one would be inside in the event the furnace blew up or caught fire.
If you're wanting only National RV brand responses, please post and I'll delete my other brand 'trailer' comment.

Some folks feel that you should never drive a motor home or any other RV with the propane turned on and should always turn off the propane at the tank before you head out on the road. That may the reason they say not to run the furnace while on the road.
I personnally do not subscribe to that notion and use both the furnace when needed and we always leave the refer on propane when we are on the road. Another NO NO by some folks.
In my opinion, if you need the furnace I would use it.

Well, we've been on the road for four days now and haven't needed to use the furnace while traveling yet. I too have always left my refrigerator on propane while traveling. I've been doing it for over 30 years now and have never encountered any problems. We're leaving Van Horn, Texas tomorrow and will be staying in Kerrville for a few days. Our final destination is Montgomery, Texas. The forecast for these cities is pleasant for winter time. Again, thanks to everyone for your inputs..

No one has any problem with the wind causing a pilot or flame blow-out?

We run with the Fridge and water heater on. No problems here. I just keep up with PM's when we are not out on a run. Keeping the gas orifices clean is the key to no blow outs.
