Electric rv steps

my rv steps go out and intermittently they won't retract,what should i do?

There is a magnetic switch located about one foot from the bottom of the entrance door jam with a corresponding magnet on the screen door. Sometimes these get out of alignment. The switch on the door jam has wire terminals on each end. If you jumper across these terminals the step should close if the switch is good. If the magnetic switch is good, check under the steps for a slip connector. Pull it apart and put it together just to be sure it's a good connection. Also check the ground wire that's connected to the chassis while your under there.
