Smile engine cooling fan and dash air

we just purchased a 2004 alpine with a 400 hp Cummings .should the engine cooling fan run continuously when the dash air conditioning is on? normally on semi's and other vehicles the engine fan runs continuously while the dash air conditioner is on to draw air across the condenser. on our unit the engine fan cycles on and off as the engine heat dictates the fan usage. this allows the high pressure on th a/c system to spike and consequently poor a/c performance. can any one give me some advise?

I can't answer your question. But I would like to follow this post. I might learn something.

after doing some research i found the air conditioner system has a byanary pressure switch on the high pressure side of the freon system. this is a dual purpose switch, one side of the switch protects the compressor form low or high pressure. the other side of the switch turns on the engine fan when the switch senses pressure or when the compressor is running. i shorted the fan side of the switch and my engine fan started running so i went to my local parts store and picked up a new switch and that solved my problem. thanks

Where in the system did you find the switch?
