Has anyone ever installed an extension so that the drivers seat can slide back so as to clear the steering wheel so that it can be used for someone to sit in while facing towards the back of the coach?

So right now you can not turn your seat to converse with the people in your living room arrangement. The steering wheel is in the way to turn your seat around. You didn't say you have an electric seat because you can tilt it all the way forward to clear steering wheel while folding back of seat forward also.

Did you look a pedestal to see if there some mounting holes to remount seat to rear of pedestal base.

You could check the Flexsteel web site to see if they have some kind of extension but electric seat maybe your only out.

I have the same problem. With my motorhome, it does not have enough room in the cockpit to allow this. If it had a track to allow more rearward movement, it would interfere with the lounge slide. I think the only answer is a longer motorhome.

Tilt the steering wheel all the way up and simply bring the seat all the way back. Tilt the seat back forward (towards to seat bottom) anything past 90 degrees. Rotate the seat. It'll rub the steering wheel a little but it will turn to face the lounge area. Your results may vary, do not try this at home. Children should be supervised at all times.

It takes some work (not for kids as Rick states), but they spin around. My '04 takes a bit of jockeying to tilt seat and pull the back all the way forward. I have an electric seat and it has to go back and forward a couple times, once to start the spin and again to keep from hitting the dog house part way through. Not something you want to do at every rest stop for lunch, but it can be done.
