Anyone have their belts changed on their CAT 300 3126 lately? What are they charging? Or did you do it yourself? I'm talking rear radiator.

UGH! .....I wouldn't even try it! It is a pain to get to. But if you are real "skinny" and flexible, you could give it a try. The CAT service place will charge $150 per hour plus CAT priced parts. Rook

just did mine a few weeks ago. fan belt at freightliner was $60.37 and a breeze to put on, maybe 3-5 minutes with a break in the middle

now the water pump v belt was only $14.32 and could of been a bear

the secret on it was to loosen the idler tensioner till almost off to give room to get belt off.

most of mine was done up top and the lower was easy to see.

bet a dealer would gig you for 2-5 to 3 hrs when you can do yourself with a couple tools in way less than an hour they charge book time flag hours, not actual and a good tech can flag over 100 hours but work only 40 or less a week.

if you need any pointers or part numbers please ask.

this is also on my 2000 tradewinds 300 cat

ps done ALL hoses to and can give part number,

PSS put new bearing in your idler to, only about 16.00 at cat versus over 100 for a new complete unit.

When I got that $1782.00 routine service at the CAT place, I ask them to check my belts....said they were good to go. But.....when I need to replace them, I hope I am near where you live! I'd even drive several miles to get there!! Rook

I have spent 2 winters in TX, Fredericksburg and Kerrville, enjoyed being at both places. I'm in Ocala, FL, this winter but I might return to TX next year. I'll look you up if I get down there. Rook
