As it turns out, our board went bad in our fridge. Darn it! No easy fix here......

I thought this was with the fridge OFF and UNDERWAY...? If so, how can a dirty gas vent/tube be the cause? Or a piece of smootz , for that matter?

I'm wondering if the fridge is really shutting off and not trying to light? If so, then I would assume (oh no) that the board is bad.

It looks as if I may have open a "can". Now I have my own conclusions (after I took the advice of Bill WA6YBD). I did remove the burner tube, cleaned out just a minor bit of "smootz" (as Jeff describes). There was not enough in the tube to make any difference in operation I don't think. What I did find was the igniter was just a tad dirty. I personally don't think that was the problem either but may have been that the igniter was not positioned just right. What my end conclusion is this: The last "explosion" was strong enough to essentially blow out any foreign matter out of the burner tube consequently making the system work proper again.......till further build-up of foreign matter, that is. Anyone else have better thoughts?

Definitely sounds Smootz related.

Hope the DeSmootzing did the trick permanently.

Glad you had that good fortune, Oleo4 because I kinda hijacked the thread with my quaery and we needed a new board. We never did get underway......It just wouldn't start on gas anymore...........
