Fridge Replacement

I have a 2005 Sea Breeze 8360 with a norcold 1200 that I would like to replace with a residential fridge. I can't find a fridge that will fit in the existing hole, partly because if the depth, but mostly because there is no way of installing a fridge that is any taller than the 1200. The 1200 is almost to the ceiling, and is sitting right on top of the furnace.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Bill

Lots of folks have been replacing the 1200. Do a search on this forum an you should come up with ideas, products an pictures. Early I saw a post on this product: http://www.samsung.com/us/appliances.../RB195ACWP/XAA

Keep looking with search and you will see. Good luck.

The Samsung 197 is the frig most folks have been using, I installed it in my Pacifica. You will need find 8" for the height. Good Luck...

Here is a link for the 197: 33" wide Platinum French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator 18 cu. ft. Energy Star | Samsung RF197ACPN - Refrigerators

It is a french door an is slightly deeper than the 195.
Good luck!

Bill, the height issue is the show stopper. Months ago there were lots of individuals installing Samsung 197's, but with the furnace under the refrigerator it appears nothing short of an apartment size unit will not fit.

Thank you Fred, and everyone else who responded. I'm finding out that there is no fridge that is large enough to fit our needs that will fit in the space provided. Oh Well.

Bill, did you ever look at the Samsung 197 or the 195 ? I'm sitting in a repair shop right now trying to figure out how to proceed with repair or replacement of my Dometic double door. 2000 Tradewinds 7371

The fridge deck can be lowered several inches to create more vertical height.
There is an old post in this site of a bunch of pictures that showed everything done to put one in..

I guess I am going to actually have to find a Samsung 195 or 197 to measure the real dimensions, and see if part of the fridge bottom can be removed so it will slide into the Norcold 1200 hole.

Thank you all for the responses. It would be SOOOO cool if this works.

What I didn't say clearly is that you can lower the bottom of the fridge opening several inches by moving the deck down to almost touch the furnace box. The furnace is in a zero clearance air box so it doesn't need all the space above it to function safely. As I recall, John left about an inch of clearance when he did his. Find the old thread and look at his pictures. He also widened the front end of the hallway opposite the fridge to give the fridge door more clearance. This is not necessary in every model, but it was in his. None of this is hard to do, just careful basic woodworking skills will handle it.
I think his handle is ZZjea.....
I have the pictures bookmarked but don't know how to link them to this post.

Unfortunately, my fridge sits on a piece of plywood that is less than 1/2 inch from the top of the furnace, so any additional room will have to be provided by removing wheels, or leveling hardware from the bottom of the fridge. Room for the door to open on the new fridge is not a problem because the fridge is not in the hallway.
