Front TV cabinet sagging

The passenger side of the TV cabinet that sits above the windshield is starting to sag about 1/2" and it's squeaking a bunch. I can't figure out how this thing is fastened to the superstructure. I need to cinch it up or refasten it. 02 8311. Any thoughts? Thanks

Sorry but the coach is in the shop and taking a pic right now is not convenient. Picture this, the top edge wood of right side of the cabinet is hanging about 1/2" away from the headliner. That should be pretty straight forward. Thanks

Behind the cabinet facia there are cleats or cabinet framing. At the top there are long screws that should anchor into metal framing within the ceiling. These may be loose stripped out. In mine I added additional screws of next size thicker to better attach the cabinets. That was 10 years ago and still holding

Thanks for the reply. How do I get behind the fascia? Mine looks like a solid piece.

My cabinet door hinges from the top edge. If the door is open and I look up at the wood the hinge is attached to I will see other screws going up through the cabinet wood into the ceiling. There should be some metal framing built into the ceiling for the purpose of supporting the cabinets.

If the TV is the older CRT Tube TV, remove it and replace it with LED Flat Panel TV. Re-secure the cabinet with better hardware.

The Tube TV's are far too heavy for mounting in the front overhead cabinet. The cabinet usually pulls loose from the overhead mounting (usually staples/screws pull loose). Search the IRV2 forum and you will find multiple reports of overhead cabinets coming loose and some TV's falling into the driver/co-pilot area of the coach.

An LED replacement is a good Idea.
However, National RV mounts their TV directly to the steel ceiling framework. The cabinets do not directly support the weight of the TV. But they are also independently hung to same frame work.

Actually gents, my 02 has a smaller TV than the 03 and newer. I ended up putting a 22" LCD that has a built in DVD player and is an AC/DC unit. This way I don't have to run the Genny or be hooked up to shore power to use it. I know many of you have invertors but I don't.

Works great.

Nice upgrade with the AC/DC LED TV. Looks like you just need to re-secure the drooping cabinet to the top frame. Good luck!

My cabinets were poorly secured with staples and screws to a wood frame. Added more and longer screws, plus the LED TV, which solved the squeaking/rattling cabinet noises. DW is very happy now!

Our 2001 Tradewinds had the same problem of "drooping" cabinet, on the drivers side. Removed TV, made a wooden post/bracket, placed it on a bottle jack to raise the cabinet back into place. What I saw was several long screws that were NEVER driven into the framing. I also removed the speakers/covers and accessed, with much effort, the small space behind them to add screws. Job was done 4 years ago, everything still in place.......
