Galley and Bedroom Slides

2006 National Sea Breeze, 8321 Workhorse Chassis.

Had a problem with Bedroom slide operation. Would not function, but the Galley was working perfectly. Started Generator and the slide started functioning and is now working perfectly as well, which was 5 days ago. I am concerned that I have a potential future malfunction.

For the last 5 days the bedroom slide is has continued to function normally. Today I have made a discovery that is surprising. I have disconnected the chassis battery (switch) and the coach disconnect is in the off position (no power to the coach). With the key in the panel and turned on the slides still function, key in the off position no function.

Should or are the slides wired so that operation bypasses the chassis disconnect and the coach disconnect ? In other words are the slides permanently wired so that the function is only turned off at the panel with the key in the off position?

I did replace the Carbon Monoxide detector, flashing indicator was indicating useful life had expired, 10 yrs. But, that was just cutting the two leads from the detector, crimp splice. I also replaced the entire step motor assembly @ control unit. Once again that was just plug in new unit to existing wiring harness. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

First, I've uploaded the 12v&120v wiring diagram just in case you didn't have it.

Second, looking at the diagram I see that the slide motor power "appears" to come from the Chassis Batteries (a dashed line box around four reset switches under the text "12V Power Distribution Center) through reset switch F6 pointed to by (7) [7 in a circle]. The circuit then goes to the Accessory fuse block then to the slide motors.

From your description of the slide motor failure it sounds like you had an open circuit at one time that was "healed" by vibrations. The open circuit could have been in the positive voltage wiring or ground connection.

The Battery Disconnect switch, as shown in the diagram removes the ground side electrical connection to the power distribution panel and "should" inhibit EVERYTHING but the coach battery circuit. The coach battery circuits (page 5) do power the engine and generator starter so they would work with the Battery Disconnect switch in the "disconnected" position.

Why the slide worked when the generator was running AND the Battery Disconnect open I haven't a clue.

Always take free advice for what its worth.

Thanks so much for your response and the upload. Printed the schematics right away and will review them more closely. Everything is working well, however the slides having continuous power is a mystery.
