Handling Fix

This is just a FYI on what I did to my 1997 Tropical to fix the handling. The coach took a lot of effort to keep the steering from wandering going down the road and trucks passing would really push me to the right. This year I've replaced all 8 tires. No change. Had the front end aligned. No change. Changed all stabilizer bushings (front and rear) and new steering stabilizer. Some help but still bad. Replaced the Bilstein shocks off the front and put on 4 new Monroe shocks front and rear. WOW! I can now barely feel the trucks passing me and I can easily drive with one hand now (if I wanted to). The shocks weren't very old either.

How old were the Bilstein's? I need to replace my shocks also and have narrowed it down to either Monroe or Bilstein

They were 4 1/2 years old. I couldn't believe the difference with trucks passing me.

I seem pretty good when meeting trucks, I'm wondering if maybe what I need is a steering stabilizer

Send a message via Skype™ to Vaflatlander
I too replaced my bilsteins with Monroes and noticed a significant handling improvement.

Google Monroe shocks for 1998 Ford F53 and it will give you the part numbers. I don't remember the numbers.
