Help! 1999 Tradewinds won't turnover.

Traveling and everything is fine. Stopped for fuel and now the Cat won't even turnover. Batteries are brand new. Turn key and no sound at all. Used screw driver and jumped across starter solenoid and it started right up. Is their a relay between the ignition switch and the starter? If so, anyone know where it is located?

On my coach, there are two relay/solenoid switches for the starter. One is mounted on the starter and actually is integral to the starter. The other is a typical "Ford looking" Starter Relay, Mounted on the front wall just under the bed, in front of the engine. I had to replace mine, it's a typical failure profile. Rook

Easy to test. With key on to you have power to and through the relay?

Rook! Thank you very much for your fast response. I see the relay and will replace it when we return home to Houston. I will confirm if this fixes the problem. For now we are parked at the RV Resort in New Mexico. I will start it with my screw driver not turn it off until we get home next week. Note: Snow seems to have jammed the door step from working! What's next!

An easier start might be to screw driver across the "Ford" Relay large terminals. Much easier to get to and if that works, it will prove the relay is bad. Rook

Replaced mine a few years ago. Got it at Napa Auto Parts. It was a Ford relay. Some where in this Forum I think I posted the part number, I'll look for it.

Correction last post....it will prove the relay is bad, IF, you have confirmed the relay is getting 12VDC on the small terminals when the ignition start is turned on. If not, then you have other problems....probably ignition switch. Rook

Oh there's ALWAYS something next!
It's all part of the fun. Right?
Still, we're sorry you had problems during you holiday travels.
Let us know what it turned out to be as we could have that fun next!
