In the shore power bay of my 2005 35ft Tropi-Cal I have a little black box. It is located next to the Shoreline transfer switch. It is a regular 120 receptacle box with a singe 120 volt plug receptacle. A cable with a 120 v plug is inserted into it and is labeled as a Power Tek Power Controller. Model RL-1009. Does anyone have any idea what this is and what it does? I have googled it and came up without a hit.

I have the same power controller outlet in my 2005 Sea Breeze LX. It is located in the video control compartment above and in front of the passenger seat. The main TV is plugged into this outlet. When the TV is on and the ignition switch is turned on, the main TV goes off. It is a safety device that prevents the TV, or whatever is plugged into it, from operating when the engine is running [that is..while your driving].

On my 99 Tradewinds that outlet in the power bay is for the Block Heater. Hook up to shore power and throw the switch for the Block Heater and see if you have 120VAC. My lite in the Block heater switch was blown and I had a bad solder joint in the 120VAC plug.
Fixed those two things and all is well.

I also have a 2005 Tropi-cal 35 and have no idea what it is. The cable was unplugged when I bought mine about a year and a half ago. I just left it unplugged. I'm interested to find out what it does.

It will be the power supply for your block heater, I think. I have a Power Tek in mine. I keep it unplugged most of the time. When I go west, I plug it in.
