Hot Water Heater

Hi all, love this forum!!!
We have a 2000 tradewinds, anyway the best i can figure is that i have an LP water heater only, but found a breaker switch next to the breaker for the GFI and two other recepticals in the kitchen under the sink. Could ib be that National pre-wired there motorhomes for eather gas or electric?? Also after the water gets hot and shuts off it will not come back on until we turn the switch off and on agin. Then it reheats agin fine. Not a big problem but does'nt sound right.
Thanks for any help!!!!

Could be the coach is pre wired for a combo Gas / electric H/W heater.
What brand and model of H/W heater do you have ?
Un-used plugs under the counter could be for any number of options, ice maker, wine cooler.
The operation is not normal, should re-fire when temp drops, getting the brand will help get info on possible repairs.

Bench test the motherboard @ an RV repair place. 3 Screws hold it in.( Motherboard ) Maybe ut takes about 10 -15 mins for water to cool....Just brainstorming.

The spec sheet from National rv says GAS / Electric for 2000 Traid winds. See if you can find another part number on the water heter Atwood models have letters and numbers. I think you have a gas / ele model in your motorhome.

On an attwood water heater there are TWO (at least) Thermostats, If you open the outside cover you will see them they are under a piece of black foam roughly in the center of the space.. ONE is labeled ECO.. This is important.

The ECO is the "Emergency Cut Off"

If it opens (That is if it gets hot enough to open it) it sets a FAULT code in the control board.. This should cause the FAULT light inside on the control panel to light up.. And it will also cause the water heater to not re-start till you cycle power to it.

The other two terminals that stick out through the foam are the standard thermostat.

Possible issues (And you will need test gear to figure this out)

ECO is faulty and opening too soon

Main T-Stat (Labeled T-Stat) is faulty and not opening

Someone switched them.

I do not know how to diagnose the last one

To trouble shoot you will need the manual for your water heater, You should be able to download one.
