How do you adjust the bay latches?

I have one bay door on the battery bay that doesn't latch very well. How do you adjust the latch? My thought is to remove the catch at the bottom of the opening and use some washers to build it out and reattach.

If like my 1998 you loosen allen screw on catch and slide op or down on the shaft.
