Hydraulic Jacks

I have a 1998 National Tradewinds. Recently I raised the jacks and the Jacks down light and buzzer would not go off indicating the jacks are still down. I checked and they seem to be completely up. I checked the fluid level and it is good. Any suggestions on what might be keeping the light and buzzer on?

You didn't mention make or model of jacks, but often each jack might have a limit switch that must close when jack is in the raised position. Check around each jack for such a switch. You might also use a 2 X 4 to lever each jack upwards to make sure it's at the top of it's travel.

There is usually an alignment mark on the sensor. Make sure is horizontal as in perpendicular to the storage tank.

There is a sensor in the side of the hydraulic fluid reservoir that controls the "Jacks Down" light and alarm. If the fluid level is OK, i would suspect a failed sensor or sensor wiring.

jefkar, you said, "checked the fluid level and it is good." In many systems the reservoir must be full to the overflow plug or it might read as "low" which would trigger a jack down error even when the jacks are all up. If the fluid level is as described, then I agree with those that suggest the sensor or the wiring to the sensor is bad.
