I have only owned this rig for about a month or so and have taken it out twice so far. My problem is that the MH fills up with dust REAL BAD while driving down a gravel road. The first trip was the worst because there was a loose floor panel in the bedroom under the carpet. This let in a massive amount of dust under the carpet. It looked like someone put a bag of flour under the carpet. It was bad.

The second trip was better but still bad. I stopped most of the dust by putting both roof vent/fans on "IN" so as to pressurize the MH.

Does anyone know of some tricks or fixes for this? I have adjusted the basement doors so they all seal. Are there some holes to plug up? I cant avoid dirt roads, my driveway is a mile long of gravel and dust.

Any thoughts?

While the MH is parked pressurize it. Use a 22" box fan in the entrance door and seal off the remaining open parts of the door with plastic. Turn the fan to blow into the coach. Go under the coach with some soapy water in a spray bottle and start spraying and looking for bubbles. Where there are bubbles there is an air leak. You may be able to seal the leaks with spray insulating foam. Hope this helps you out. Good luck

I'm afraid this life style is going to get a little "dusty" just as your stick and bricks would get if you drug it down a gravel road. We did manage to seal up one culprit, our shower base needed to be resealed to the floor, now no dust on the bath floor.

Thanks Dan, I'll look at the shower closer. I wish I didnt have to go down dusty roads...but I do. I guess I'll just keep plugging away.

Rockcrawler,
We also have a 2001 Tradewinds LTC. National had a dust problem with them from the git-go. In fact, most of them will have black streaks across the ceiling/headliner where the braces are. We've only had ours three years, but I understand from people that purchased them new, there was a recall and they installed a wooden frame. On mine, when you open the engine door, you can see a wooden structure on both sides and across the top, I believe it's just above the taillights. This was supposed to eliminate the dust problem. But my DW says there is still lots of dust.

On your gravel road, I can see where it would be extremely dusty with your side radiator. In my case, times I have traveled on a gravel road it seems like there is a dust storm swirling around me. But only when the side radiator fan is on. It's controlled electronically and you might consider a cut-off switch so you can turn it off for that one mile.

I never thought about our MH being that dusty, but I don't dust either.
We've had our Tradewinds for over three years, and I do all of my own service work and am familiar with a few things about it.

One important thing I found out is servicing your air dryer, which takes moisture out of the air lines and can cause alot of problems. If you're not familiar, it's a large cannister located just above the slobber tube which is just behind the left rear axle.

I hope this helps. Feel free to call me any time about any problem you might have, or just to chat.

Happy New Year,
Larry
