Had a similar question to recent string, but didn't want to hijack KentM's thread. I have an '04 Dolphin LX (6342) and it seems I have different loads connected to my 600W inverter than others have described. I also don't have the National wiring diagrams others have mentioned (anybody know a source for these aftermarket?).

With inverter functioning I have both TV's/DVD (front and rear, not basement), and one outlet in back bedroom at vanity. Everyone else mentions the outlet in the passenger cockpit, but mine is hot only with shore/gen power.

Works fine otherwise. Just wondering if mine is somehow wired "wrong". A wiring diagram would answer the question quickly if anyone wants to scan and send me the pdf.

Thanks,

I have a 2004 5342 also and mine is wired different also. My rear tv won't work with the inverter. The wireing diagram I have is from NRV and shows the power going to the vanity-rear tv and then the front tv. The diagram isn't much help, but I would be happy to fax it to you along with plumbing and 12VDC diagrams. I'd like to figure out how to operate the rear tv off the inverter so my wife can watch while we're traveling and she is laying down without running the Generator.

Thanks Belgian. Our rear TV works, along with the front TV and DVD set up. The front clicks off with the ignition interlock. If your rear vanity plug is hot with inverter you might be able to pull this plug out, and pull the plug out behind the TV and see if a wire is disconnected. Could be as simple as plugging the TV in the other plug behind the TV? When they wire an outlet to the inverter do they wire both plugs, or just one of the pair?

I'll keep playing with my circuit tester and see what more I find.

I never thought about the lock out switch. We are the second owners. Someone may have altered our wireing. We can watch the front TV with the ignition on. I guess I'll have to dig a little deeper.

I checked my outlets over the weekend. I only have power to the front TV. I didn't have time to power up the gen. to check the outlets with 120v but that's my next step.
Have you had any luck with yours?

Nope. Haven't started pulling wires and toning circuits yet, but the front passenger outlet is definitely not on the inverter.

I really think previous owner jury rigged yours to run the TV while driving and did something to the rear.

Good luck.

Jeff,

There is a relay operated outlet behind the front TV that is controlled by the ignition switch. 12v is applied when you turn on the key. Some people will take the tv out and remove the wire from the relay. This allows the tv to work while driving. Simple to do, if no connector on the wire, cut and tape each end. Now the tv will run while driving. Good luck.

thanks Renegades. My front TV wiring is stock and turns off when the ignition is turned on. I have heard removing that TV is a bit of an ordeal. From the posts I think some prior owner did that "relay-ectomy" on Belgians rig and it somehow screwed up the rear TV which should operate off the generator or inverter when cruising down the road. Just conjecture, but can't figure out why else his rear bedroom TV wouldn't operate when tooling down the highway, but the front one will work fine (which is illegal in most states).

Thanks,

I have a 2004 Dolphin 5342. My rear TV does not operate off the inverter and I believe my front TV does not turn off with the ignition but I'll have to verify that. I don't believe any modifications were made to my rig by the previous owner. As I recall the front entertainment center has multiple outlets, one labeled TV and my guess is only that plug is switched by the ignition. Plugging the TV into the other outlet enables it to work while the engine runs. My understanding is the inverter only operates the front TV (not rear) although I sure wish it did.

Mike, you hit the nail on the head, the previous owner switched the TV to a plug not marked "TV". In the '05 model year I believe NRV upgraded the 600 watt inverter to 1,000 watts and powered the bedroom TV. It's my understanding that if the optional 2,000 watt inverter is present you would have the entire coach powered.

My 2003 came factory equipped with 600 watt inverter. It did power the bedroom tv as well as the front entertainment center.

There is a small relay/fuse panel near the brake pedal under the dash area that sends ignition switched voltage up to the TV outlet box relay to turn off 110vac to that one half of the outlet.

No one has mentioned it yet but, at least in 05, the refer can be plugged into the correct socket found in the external access door just above the furnace outlet. By doing this I am able to run down the road with power to the refer rather than using propane. You just must be careful to switch from invert once the sun get low and the solar panels can no longer keep up.
