I have an 03 Dolphin LX with a Dometic side-by-side fridge/freezer. There is a water leak somewhere in the water supply line to the ice maker. The manual says you should check all connections annually to insure that all connections remain tight. My question; how do you get to the line in the top area just before it goes into the area of the ice maker. I can see the line through when I remove the outside cover, but just for a very short distance. No room to get your hand in to check further up. Has anyone had similar problems or know how to get to the area to check the connections?

On our 99 Tradewinds, I had to replace the ice maker line. The orginal had heat tape on it for cold weather camping but over the years, it cooked the plastic line. I removed the frig by removing the four screws in the frame around the door, unhook the gas line, and slide it forward into the hallway on a stool. The line has an adapter on the end where it goes into the freezer and just kind of plugs in. Not a real big job but takes a couple of hours.

I find that if I don't disconnect that supply line to the icemaker and let the water drain out when winterizing then the line freezes and plastic line comes pops out of the compression nylon fitting on the back of the refrigerator. This will cause it to leak when pressure is applied next Spring. It goes right back into the fitting but you have to pull out the refrigerator to do it because it is so high up on the back. Now I just leave the line disconnected at the bottom during the winter staorage times.

I (we) found NO advantage with the ice maker. My problem was winterizing the thing....wifes problem was it took up too much (food) room in the freezer.
I removed it, and, of course, disabled the mechanism. Need ice? We make it the old fashioned way...with ice trays. Having a group over? Spend about 2 bucks and buy a bag of ice and put it in a cooler.
Works for us......

Thanks everyone. Removeing the fridge/freezer may by too heavy/big of a job for me. Will have to think on that for a while.

CW quoted me about 360.00 to replace the line. I tackled it and total cost was less then 5.00 at Lowes for tubing. Hardest part was getting the fridge to break loose after removing all the screws. I slide it out on top of an old wood footlocker. Took me all day but saved me 355.00, I take a lot of brakes. If you don't feel up to doing it, I'd call a mobile mechanic and get a quote before taking it to dealer or CW. Either way, when it's fixed disconnect the in line fuse for heating the line, this is what causes the failure. Good luck.
