Hello Everyone,

I have a seal leaking on the left rear leveling jack on our 2000 Tradewinds. From what I have read from the owners manual it is non-rebuildable? Would anyone know where I might find a part number on my exsisting jack? Or even better yet know the part number, or even better yet! Know exactly where I might order one?

Google hydraulics for your zip code. I think they can be rebuilt.

I had one leaking a few years ago and decided to spray it with a can of brake cleaner. I wiped it down real good and then sprayed it with a silicone spray. Ran it up and down and still today it does not leak. Worth a shot.

I had a problem with my hydraulic jacks and took it to a hydraulic repair shop. They rebuilt the jack and the cost was less than 100.00. They are rebuildable.

Mine is in the shop now. They used to sell National RV before they went out of business. They are rebuilding 3 of mine now. So I guess they are rebuildable.

If you look up toward the top of the jack there should be a tag on the side with the model and serial numbers on it. They are rebuildable either with parts kit from Power Gear, or by a shop that repairs hydraulic equipment. The repair procedure can be downloaded from Power Gears web site.

I had mine rebuilt at a RV repair shop for about $100 each. Power Gear even sells rebuild kits, but a hydraulic shop can do the job, they are standard rams. Rebuilding them is much less expensive than replacing them.

The only difference, if you get the kit from Power Gear it comes with grease fitting in the lower bushing fitting, which mine did not have.

I had the left rear jack leak one time, I did similar to what sgtjoe did. I cleaned the lip seal of the jack with a nylon brush ran the jack all the way out. With the jack fully extended I worked the small spray tube of a full can of silicone under the lip seal and sprayed until the junk quit coming out from under the seal. Wiped down the shaft and sprayed with silicone, ran the jack in and out several times. I sprayed the shaft real good in between each cycle of the jacks. That was over a year ago never has leaked since. I think it is a good idea to occasionally fully extend and retract jacks, also spray the shaft with silicone when the jacks are fully extended. Just make sure that you are not in a position that you will get injured if the jacks fail. I did order the repair kit from Power Gear, was going to rebuild it myself, still have it. Power Gear will not sell direct to the end user. I bought mine from Adventure RV.
