Living Room Slide Plate
We have a 2001 Sea Breeze 2300 5th wheel. When putting out our living room slide there was an awful noise. I discovered that what I assume is a slide plate ripped off and was lying on the floor with one corner still under the slide out. I was able to pull the slide plate completely off the slide. It is broken where the screws were apparently holding the slide in place. I have not tried to put the slide back in (we plan to be where we are through August and I plan to deal with the problem when we are ready to leave). Does anyone have any experience with such? What do we need to do? Can this be repaired?
Thanks.
Barbara

Ouch. Sorry for your troubles.
Do you have a "flat floor slide" which sits flush with the coach floor when extended and then ramps up onto the coach floor when retracted? Is this the "skid" plate which runs the length of the slide and is supposed to glide the slide onto and over the coach floor? If so, I'd be pretty concerned about damage to your floor if you retract the slide as is. There are probably still screws, etc that held the skid in place and they might put gouges in the floor.
I'm sure it can be repaired but depending on the type of slide you have, it may well require that the slide be removed... either partially or completely.
I wouldn't wait too long to get a repair plan put in place so you're not having to stay a lot longer than you want to.
Best of luck
Rick

Is it a black plastic formed piece about 12" x 6"? And it is attached to the underside of the slide floor front? It may be the same as I have in my 2001 MH.

Looks like she hasn't been back on line for nearly a week.

I was hoping they have the plastic and perhaps they found replacements.

Yes, that is the piece. We have not gotten the slide fixed yet because we are going to be here until August. We plan to take it in for repair right before we leave.

I have been looking for these for over a year. The Company that bought most of Nationals parts doesn't have them. These were formed in-house at National according to Russ at The Gambler RV Parts in Quartzsite and Victorville, CA. He said National shredded what they had and also destroyed the molds. I had my slide repaired in Las Vegas by Affordable RV Repair, he is a mobile RV Technician. He used 1/2" nylon to fix mine. These were placed under the side from outside and are held in place by the screws that hold the hinges to my storage compartments, he just replaced the screws with longer ones. I haven't had any problems with the slide, but do notice one end sits higher when the slide is out. I'm still looking for the original pieces, so if you find them let me know. I don't know if my fix will work for you on your 5th wheel. Do you have storage compartments under the slide?

Here are some pics of where mine are positioned. They are not attached to the slide. This is the same material the kitchen cutting boards are made of.

Have you located a place that has the skid yet? I talked with a RV shop here in SLC and they sent me to a plastic fabricator who will make a mold to fabricate the skids. To replace the skids, the slide will have to be removed. If you found someone who has a replacement skid let me know before I have the mold made. I'll pm you my phone number if you still need a replacement skid, let me know.
