Lock Problem

The bottom lock on my 2004 Sea breeze does not lock. I have tried turning the key different ways, but still won't lock. Luckily the dead bolt works. Any information on what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Thank you

I didn't even get a key for mine and it won't lock from the inside either. The button goes in about 1/8" and I can feel something rubbing on it. I just got used to using only the dead bolt.

I just happen to run across the problem Tony H had with his lock, same problem I was having . Just went out and tightened the plunger lo and behold the lock woks. I had forgotten about that plunger working loose. All is good again.

Thanks Tony H

Deadbolt more secure anyway.

If you take the lock apart you may find the broken part, Be careful though there is a spring in there, I do not think you will need to get that far into it that the spring can pop out, but.. Well, Be careful.

You don't want to end up with spare parts.

Mine was loose too. I also found out that if it is locked, the door won't close, so no chance of locking myself out.

Well don't feel bad, it appears that it was a common problem with most of the nationals. The best thing you can do is have the dead bolt re-keyed by a locksmith and make sure you Hide an extra key in a magnetic box under the unit where only you and/or your DW know where it is. As far as the lock in the door latch itself, either replace it or see if the locksmith can repair it. Good Luck and be safe!

Why would either of us need to re-key the dead bolt. They work fine. I can live with the latch not locking with a key. The only time I lock the door is when I'm home.

Because It is a Sure thing that someone has a master key to allow them selves into your rig at any time. Besides maybe past owner(s) still has a key. Just like the storage door locks, one key fits all, had those changed out as well!

Again I stress that you consider at the very least changing the dead bolt lock to a new key and mention it to your Insurance company as well, might just drop the cost a little knowing that there is Not a bunch of keys floating around that work on your unit!

Has anyone replaced the door lock? Mine is broken and I have looked around on line and can't find one that looks like mine. It is for a 2005 Dolphin.

Thanks for any info
