The water pump on my SurfSide has lost it's prime. Any ideas? I suspect either a kinked hose behind the panel OR a bad diaphram in the pump. HELP

Oleo4, Remove the screen from the pump and clean it. Restore the screen and try it!
It looks like a little 1/2 of a ball looking thing on the discharge side of the pump. Mine does ....
Alos check you winterizing valve and make sure its in "Normal"

I have cavitated my pump, however it has always "pulled" itself back together and pumped fine. I wouldn't suspect a kinked line as NRV used braided hoses that should not kink. No good answers, as DriVer mentioned check the pump screens, other than that a bad pump.

Try not to worry, Oleo4, this happens fairly often, and 99% of the time it is an easy fix. First, you need to know that it will not hurt your water pump to run dry.... It will pull water from your tank, it just takes time. Open several faucets inside your rig, like both sinks, so the pump can push out the air. Turn on your pump. Let it run until water shows. If you want assurance about this, go to the pump company's website for affirmation of this process. I've had this same issue twice over the years, and did the same actions both times without any lingering problems or damage. Best of luck

All of suggestions above will help however,
I WOULD also suspect a kinked line as that was what I found behind my wet panel. I also opted to relocate the pump so that it was more easily accessible for replacement or service. This move also provided more slack distance for the hoses to not get kinked.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I knew it was OK to run the pump dry but it is really maddening to say the least. As soon as our weather breaks I'll be at looking for the source of the problem. Other than this, I have had no problems to speak of with the SurfSide; they made a good coach.

I'll bet it's just a "lost" prime. If I were you, I would open valves inside and let the pump run until water shows. It may take 20-30 minutes. It's the easiest to try first. Kinked hoses obviously can happen, but it is a rare event. Best of luck
