Michelins or ????

Getting close to needing to put new tires on my TradeWinds. Question: has anyone with a Tradewinds had another brand of tires besides Michelins installed and if so how were they for ride and quality? If I switched brands would there be a problem on spacing for the rear duals?

I have Michelin’s and have been happy with them. I have heard good things about Toyo brand tires. You won’t have an issue with spacing if you stay with the same size tire regardless of brand

Any brand but Michelins would be great.

Just changed last week from xze Michelin’s to Toyos. I had the Michelin’s for seven years with no issues and think the toyos wander a little over 60 mph. Other than that seems the same.

In 2015 I switched to Sailun S637 255/70R22.5 tires on my 1999 Tradewinds. These are commercial all position long-haul tires typically used on buses. I bought them from Big O Tires in Salt Lake City. I've been very happy with them. Last July I wanted to replace one because of road hazard damage to the side wall (the tire did not fail). I couldn't find a Sailun tire locally in Texas, but got the replacement from Tires-Easy.com online at a great price and free shipping to my door. A local truck tire shop mounted it for $35. I've put about 20,000 times on them with zero wear. In 2020 I'll replace them based on age. It will be another set of Sailun tires. I used to run RV tires and I'll admit the ride was a little softer. However, I believe that the more flexible the sidewall the greater the risk of a blowout. Before the tire change I ran another popular brand and had the front driver's side tire fail at highway speed. Not good. Although the Sailun is a Chinese tire I'm not worried about them at all.

Two years now riding on a set of Firestone tires. Good ride and handling. No.problems whatsoever. Can't tell the difference to the previous Michelin tires. Except for the extra $1000 savings in my pocket.

I replaced my Goodyear RV 670 255/70r 22.5 with Double Coin RT600 275/70r 22.5. Purchased them at Les Schwab. Both were load range H. The slightly larger tire has higher max load rating and I can run at lower air pressures and less harsh ride.

I replaced my Michelins with Toyo MT154's last summer. Saved about 1500 over the Michelins. So far, very happy. Quiet and handle well

Been having hell with 305/70/ 22.5 Toyo's. Not all Toyo's fault but I have had to replace one out of round tire and still have 6 of the 8 to check....

If you like to sit outside under your awning also be aware that Toyos have a "smell" that is not pleasant. Especially bad when you first park after driving a bit. The wife asked me if our sewer was backed up..

I got a price of $3100 for 6 Toyo’s, 245 70R x 19.5, installed. Sound reasonable?

That's pretty close to what my 6 new Michelins would be.
