I did mine yesterday. First I blew out the fresh tank and then the water heater. Even with the bypass valve in bypass some air was coming out the water heater drain so I put the drain back in. Then I did inside in this order.
I use one of these fittings on the fresh water inlet and quick connect the compressor hose to it then leave the compressor on.

Tub/Shower
Bathroom Sink
Toilet/Sprayer (Don't forget this one or you will need a new toilet valve next spring)
Kitchen Sink/Filtered water spout/Sprayer
Ice Maker
For the Ice maker I use a suicide chord to open the valve in the outside fridge access. Remove the two wires on the tabs at the water solenoid and install the cord on them, polarity doesn't matter it's 115 AC. I ground the cord with a jumper just to be safe but it's not really not required. There is a 115 VAC receptacle right next to it outside, plug in the cord there. If you don't have a suicide chord then you will need to remove the hoses from the valve and then remove the valve and turn it upside down. Blow out the water line going up to the ice maker, just hold the two hoses together and that will do the trick. Again if you don't you will need a new valve next spring. the suicide cord is a lot easier.
When that's all done do it again to be sure. The last thing I do is the outside shower, it's the low point drain and water will collect in that hose during the process.
Then I removed the water heater plug for winter storage.
Then pour Antifreeze into the drains of the Tub, Bathroom Sink, and Kitchen Sinks. Cover the ball in the toilet with Antifreeze to keep the seal from drying out.

Here is a picture of the Suicide Cord easy to make and you will use it every year.
