National RV Muffler Search

Hello everyone, Kate and I have been trying to revive some of the dead brain cells as we learn about our 2001National Caribbean RV. We've been out in it three times and want to get out more often and for longer periods. As I learn about this rascal I found I need a few things: to replace the muffler and Spartan does not have any in stock and no supplier. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a dependable supplier? I've contacted United, Donaldson, Grand Rock and APExhaust with no success at present; Think I need to replace the boost solenoid (incase my chassis batteries can't turn over the engine and need the house batteries' help; seems simple enough to replace) and I have a dash light switch that is not dependable to illuminate the dash gages when I am operating at night. I have to play with it to get the gage lights to operate. Something I am learning that I need to drive during daylight whenever possible. Any help on these three issues is very much appreciated. Thank you, Kevin.

ps-
I am learning when I connect to shore power the Inverter begins to charge my house batteries but then my chassis batteries get discharged so I'm thinking that boost solenoid is stuck in the energized state. Any experienced out there that may concur? Thanks!

You will probably have to measure the size and pipe inlet and outlet and to find a muffler. Might find one on rockauto.com or any good muffler shop.

I have replaced the solenoid on my 2001 Dophin. It's fairly easy once you get the control board out. Make sure to take pictures and label all the wires BEFORE you remove the 12v control board. Make sure you get a solenoid that is rated for "continuous duty".

good luck

I had the same muffler issue on ours with a 3126 Cat. Measured inlet and outlet sizes and overall size of muffler went to Oriellys and ordered a walker muffler for $139

O'Riellys huh, have to check it out. I got an estimate from United for over $300 to build one. Thanks!

Find a small locally owned muffler shop. They can measure, order, and replace along with checking all the exhaust piping. I've got a one guy shop near me that does a lot of regular as well as custom stuff for a fair price. Not sure a national chain will have experience with unusual exhaust systems.
