Hi all!

Well my wonderfull piece of s##t Norcold 4 door refer went "south" again! I replaced the cooling unit 2 1/2 yrs ago and now the unit has failed again. PPL motorhomes in Houston, TX has a special on a Domectic two door side by side called the "Sidewise" which is supposed to be a drirect repacement for the 4 door Norcold $2199 plus $440 installation, total $2639. I talked to someone who had this swap out done a few months ago and he said the Domectic is out performing the Norcold, refer is staying at 38* and freezer at o* on the hotest day!

With all the recalls Domectic is or has been having makes me gun shy, is it the most prudent thing to do and go Domectic? Plus iIhave been hearing from fellow RV'ers that they are having burnt out circuit boards with Domectic refers!

Also, I have heard about the "new Amish" repacement unit for the Norcold model 1200LR that can be bought for $1025 plus $50 shipping, for a total of $1075 delivered. I am by myself and would need to hire someone to install. Figure about $450-500 for install plus $1075 for total cost of $1575 on the high end, which would still be cheaper than total Domectic replacement.

Any advice, experiences, sympathy,......................................... ..

Hi, Dave

Sympathy is about all I have to offer on this subject...
But maybe this response will "bump" your question to the active column where those more in-the-know will see it!

Good luck!

Francesca
