New to me 2006 Dolphin LX 6355 W24
Hello All, I just upgraded to a beautiful Dolphin LX. I have looked at dozens of MH's and some of them are made so cheaply, it's shameful. I had a 1993 Fleetwood Flair on the P30 chassis and this was my first Class A 454 B.B. TBI w/ 480le tranny and it had 16k on it and still smelled new, only 160hrs on gen. I loved that coach and did stuff to it to keep it looking new and problem free. That flair was built very well and it was what I compare every coach I step into. Some of the new units the floors were soft or had sinking feeling when you walk through them, Others the door frames were out of square and won't close, the materials and craftsmanship were embarrassing. Especially when you consider the MSRP price. It seems that a lot of manufactures have cheeped out too keep their profits up. Well then I saw the National brand and especially the Dolphin and Sea Breeze models. I mean it was love at first sight. I just think they did an amazing job putting the whole package together. How does that song go “she’s one in a million girls, she’s a beauty. Why would I lie.” Ok maybe a little carried away. Now every RV ever manufactured is going to have some problems. So I figured I found the ONE, she had 52,500 miles on her and I know all of the bugs had to be worked out by then. Somebody else had to take the loss of driving it off the lot. New purchased price was $130k plus. The Alison 2100 tranny came with a 200k warranty. That’s got to say something about their quality. The inside of the coach still smelled new just like my Flair. Everything still looked new, nothing beat up like someone was living in it full time. The Gen only has 188hrs. I had deja vu just like when I found the Flair. Asking price of $79,900 final sale price $63,000. Not sure If I got the best deal, but I sure tried. Anyhow the first thing to go was that beast of a TV, replaced with a beautiful Sony 32” LCD with custom CNC aluminum mount that clamps to the existing steel frame. I will post pictures and will also give details on the mount if needed. Also the rear TV went flying out the door as well replaced by a 23” hanspree both from Costco. The rear TV was the perfect width to fit in that opening with a ¼” to spare. Also made a custom CNC bracket for it as well. Banks kit was 2nd on my list, as I put the banks on the Flair and it made a huge difference in the power band especially hill climbing in California. I opted to do it myself, I paid Camping World to do the Flair, and after I saw what is was I figured I would save the $1800 bucks and just do the headers and ram air intake. My unit already has dual exhaust and I was not sure how changing from dual to single exhaust like the Banks kit would do is going to give me better exhaust flow. But that’s what they said. I like the sound of the stock exhaust and it’s not obnoxious. Besides I figure if I need the muffler upgrade I can do it latter. But since I did the job myself and seen that the dual “it has two” catalytic converter openings can’t really flow much better. So what good is a high flow muffler going to do anyway “make more noise”
I will continue my post soon.
Thanks for reading.
