Purchased a 1998 National Trade winds and in the process of updating. Unit has 22.5' 245-75 tires on the steering and 235- 80 on the rear. Are 235- 80 suitable for the steering end? Think maybe they were the original size. Just new to the motorhome camping scene and trying to get everything in order to get at it.

Original tire size, should be listed on the chassis manufacturers , weight sticker around the drivers seat somewhere and it will give rec-commended inflation.
Tire manufacturers web site will give the specs on the tires, height; Revolutions Per Mile ( when you see RPM , on a tire site , that's the meaning) and load weight rating.

Weight rating is important, my coach left the factory with under rated tires on the front and was recalled, a different tire size was installed on the front axle , because tires that matched the rear weren't available with a high enough weight rating to carry the front axle load.

Congratulations on your new coach,. My 2000 tradewinds has the spec sheet in the cabnet over the drivers windshield it calls for 235/80 22.5 ut other sizes may be safely substituted if they have the same rolling radius and meet weght requirements for your unit. I would gather info from all tires including age (4 digits beside DOT OVAL, 2 NUMBERS FOR YEAR AND 2 FOR WEEK MANUFACTURED) Go to a reliable tire guy and get his/her opinion.

You're gonna love your coach. I also have a '98 TW. The tire info is right above the window drivers seat. I have put 245x75x22.5 Goodyears on mine all around. Can't say how the 235/80 will work for you though. A reputable truck tire center may be able to answer that, or hopefully someone here on the forum.
Best of luck.
