New to Us 1999 Sea View 8331

Greetings,

I recently acquired a 1999 National Sea View 8331 from Jeff at All Class RV in Yorba Linda, CA. Jeff is unique in that he takes older RV’s and refurbishes them to like new condition and resells them at a reasonable price. After seeing Jeff’s work we fell in love with the Sea View so we had to take it home. Last week the wife and I went to Camping World to get some supplies for our new to us RV. Following the wife’s lead, I made the mistake of going out on the lot to look at new RVs after we had just purchased one. I say it was a mistake because people often find something they like better and regret their purchasing decision after the fact. However, after poking around new and very expensive RVs for over an hour, the wife and I came to the conclusion there was none we liked better than our National Sea View. I cannot believe I was spoiled so quick but everything else looks like junk in comparison. Honestly, I have no idea how companies can produce such shoddy workmanship and still get the big bucks for it. Anyhow, I now have a better understanding why this brand has such a loyal following; it’s just that good.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new moho!

We used to trade moho's every 2-3 years, until purchasing our current Dolphin 10 years ago. Have not found anything else to take her place.

Sooooo, we are all waiting on some pictures from you. . . . . inside and out! Making us jealous is a good thing.

PICS

You are so right. Needs pics. Just a little more info too. We paid $28,500 for the rig. We have no idea what it looked like before but Jeff completely resealed the roof, put six new tires on it, replaced all three batteries, replaced the awnings, redid the suspension, installed new LED TV's, new mirrors, tuned up the engine and generator and replaced all fluids, re-carpeted the interior, re-upholstered the all the seats, installed new window valances and the list goes on and on. At 33k miles, she is closer to new than she has been in a long while. I know the price is well over book but considering he put over $10k into it, I say we got ourselves a pretty sweet deal. Beats everything else we looked at in the price range so we are happy. Just turn the key and go. Oh yes.... Pictures.

Yes very nice coach. Did the guy redo graphics/paint? It's very good condition for it's age. I recently replaced all the graphics on our Dolphin. The mirrors on our 99 Dolphin are invertered attached above the side windows. I thought all Nationals of our vintage mirrors were invertered. Which chassis do you have? Ours is on a Ford.

The guy repainted the lower portion, applied new Sea View logos, and polished the exterior to a shine. The mirrors kind of baffled me too. However, I don't see any holes where they were originally mounted inverted and later changed. Seems to me it would be more work to relocate them so why would you? As for the chassis, it is the standard Ford.
Thanks!

Nice looking SeaView. Welcome to the club.

We purchased our 2000 about three years ago and have been doing the interior and suspension upgrades you have since then. Based on the price of the parts used and the effort it takes to do the mods....you got a pretty good deal IMHO. We love our rig and have looked at many others and have not found anything that fits us as nicely or is made as well.

I'm tackling the exterior aesthetics this spring. Did Jeff paint the Centrex basement doors and bumpers on your rig, or clean them up?

Karl

The clear coat was coming of my basement doors, so I removed it with a straight razor blade. Then I polished them with Girot's Garage polishes 1, 2, & 3 using their 3" random orbital polisher. I finshed by using Maguiars Flagship Premium Marine Wax. They came out really nice with a good shine. I just apply the Meguiars twice a year to maintain the shine.
