As another data point for you.

I bought a Fleetwood Discovery 1997 36RS last April for $22K outright.

Has Cummins ISB 275 HP, one slide, everything works. I did put 6 new Sumitomo tires on it for $1800 although 3 tires were good for date. I wanted all tires to match.

Put 6000 miles on it so far with only a temporary transmission error code when I drove it through 4 inches of slushy snow in Oct.

Hmmm MM that is a good question! Since I am POOR! LOL, LOL, LOL I will be looking in the 30-35k range, maybe 37K, if all goes well in the next day or so. I still need to try and sell my gasser too. I am gonna ask 13k for it just to get her moved.

I did find an ABSOLUTELY gorgeous 1997 40' Monaco signature series that was to LIVE for (LOL, LOL, LOL) I mean it is the best coach of that vintage that I have ever seen. I am sitting on pins and needles for the guy to get back to me on price. You know that old saying "if you have to ask how much" well you know the rest. My wife feel in love at first sight and said THAT IS THE ONE!!! I told her to slow down until we could figure out the asking price.

I would go as high as 40k for that unit! We will see.

I am looking at most brands, but the boss seems to like the monaco's She does like the Tradewinds also.

Hey wireless I have seen alot of the Discoveries as of late and most have been in that 22-29k range, sound like you made a good buy.

One other thing I did was put on Balance Masters on front and back and boy they make a difference.

I'm not sure what "Over the grapevine" means.....

But I"ve driven my Gasser (37' Damon Intruder, 8.1L Chevy Vortec feeding an Allision feeding the drive shaft) from Detroit to Palmdale CA (I did not take it to LA.. I took the car to LA) and back w/o any issues. I read all about how I"d have problems getting over the "hills" but that 8.1 just hauled...anatomy.

NOTE: I did not go via Denver, CO, I went farther north and then down through Salt Lake, since an accessory needed adjustment and the man who KNOWS!!! how to adjust it lives and works in Salt Lake (At the factory that made it)

W8 the "grapevine" is a steep grade going from the valley along I-5 in Cali towards LA. If a 34'-36' gasser v-10 will climb that grade at 50 mph I may consider one of those, however I was also told there is nothing like having a DP. I have only driven on DP and I took to it right off, now would I have that same feeling about a v-10?
