New to us coach on a Freightliner chassis. I've noticed there is no audible click sound in the coach when using the turn signals. I do hear a click in the far rearward right side baggage compartment( where the inverter is located) when testing the toad connections. Is this normal?
Thx, Don

If you don't hear a click, it may be because the flasher unit is too far away or ambient noise levels in the driver area are enough to mask it. A very easy mod would be to get a couple of piezo-electric beepers (Radio Shack is a good source) along with a seletion of resistors. Insert one beeper in each turn signal cicuit under the dash, splicing one wire of the beeper to the existing wire and the other one to ground 9with an easily removable connection.

Add series resistors in the link to ground until the audio level is where you want it to be, then make the connection permanent. You'll need fairly substantial resistance numbers as those piezo beepers are really loud.

I did this to a couple of my former GM clunkers where the auto-return for the steering column switch had broken and I didn't feel like paying a GM mechanic $300 to take the steering wheel off.

Mine doesn't make any noise either. I think this is normal for frieghtliner because I've heard other people complain about it also.

P. S., Don,

The click down the back is probably a relay in the toad wiring, needed so the current draw through the motorhome's flasher unit isn't too high when the toad is hooked up.

The clicking you're referring to is either the relay or flasher for the turn signals, on ours it's a relay. You should have two black boxes in that compartment that contain relays and fuses for chassis components that are not included in the dash electrical panel.

You can get a replacement flasher at a truck stop that has an EXTRA LOUD CLIP

There are basically 4 different flashers... HD 3 wire, HD 2-wire and specific load 2 and 3 wire, The Extra Loud's are all HD (Heavy Duty) which is what you want.

Thanks for the replies. Is the ts flasher located under the dash with the Freightliner chassis. I could not locate it.
