Northeast
Just returned from my 3 week trip through the Northeast. The weather was great. The highs during the days were in the low to mid 70's. Bar Harbor had a great fireworks display on the 4th. New Hampshire and Vermont are so nice and green. Though we did not see a moose. The boys were really wanting to see one on this trip. Did see a black bear in New Hampshire, he was sitting in the middle of a hay field next to a river.
Well I knew that the tolls in the northeast were going to cost me a little extra. However when I got to the George Washington bridge going into New York City I could not believe when the toll attendant told me it was 84 dollars to go over the bridge. 84 dollars I think is way expensive for a trip over a bridge that you could loose a VW Beatle in the pot holes. I had a few choice words for the attendant, though I know it is not his fault that the toll was so high. It just made me feel better. Stayed at some great campgrounds along the way. Narrows Two in Trenton Maine was an excellent choice. We got a site right on the water. It was beautiful looking out at all the lobster boats bobbing in the bay. The boys had a blast picking around in the tidal pools during low tide. In New Hampshire we stayed at Mountain Lakes campground. This is a very nice and well maintained campground. If you have kids and are looking for a place in New Hampshire I would highly recommend this place. It is as clean as any I have ever stayed at. Lots of activities and centrally located to all the White Mountain activities.
The only problem we had was that our chassis a/c compressor locked up in Scranton PA. Luckily it decided to lock up while we were at a pit stop. So no breakdown beside the Interstate. Contacted GS roadside assistance and they sent some right out. The only hitch was Freightliner sent out a new compressor. However it got lost in transit somewhere so the shop had to reorder it again. So that cost me a extra day of sitting t the pit stop. I unhooked the Toad and sent the wife and boys on to Hershey park. They rented a cabin for two days until I got back on the road. All in all it was a great 2 1/2 week trip.
