Onan diesel generator

Recently has a shutdown due to high temperature code. I check the unit and all seemed good. Owners manual did not help that much. Called Cummins and they stated it was a temp sender. I overnighted the part and proceded to remove the side and rear panels to get at the old sender. Removing the rear panel revealed a shredded water pump belt. I had to overnight a belt(bought 2) and replaced belt. The pulley must be removed to install new belt. There is no tensioner. Took about 2 hours to do the belt and reassemble. A lot of bolts to put back. Easy job but no access panel to get at belt.

Glad you got it running. Any idea when the water pump belt was last replaced?

Onan generator

I purchased Pacifica in 2013 with 17,000 miles on it. I am guessing belt was original. The EC 30 was replaced by me & I did not reset hours on generator. There was shreds of belt left. Tom

Tom, thanks for that info. I've got to dig into the maintenance records of my coach and find out when the belt was last replaced.
