Opening into storage bay

Was doing work under the MH today and noticed a opening, about 7"x16" above the drive shaft into the storage bay. Did not look like any metal was missing. Is this a normal opening? 2006 Sea breeze LX 8321.

Dont have a Sea Breeze, but I would think not.. Is it any where near the ends on the shaft? Could be an access panel that went missing.

Jim, that was my thinking, but their are no screw holes or anyway to hold a panel. Drive shaft is easy to get to. My plan is to get some sheet metal, drill some screw holes and cover it up. Just odd to is this opening.
