We are new to this forum and considering buying a 2008 35ft Dolphin. Is it a good idea to buy new? Should we be concerned because National has closed? Will an extended warranty cover all the things National would have covered?
Thanks for any help on this. We are fulltimers for 5 years.

We have owned 3 Dolphins and they have all been good units.

I would not be too thrilled to take on a new unit without factory support. I know Monaco purchased several trade names and molds but didnt't purchase any technical data. I don't know who took possession of this very detailed and critical information.

The Extended Warranty will probably not cover things such as problems with the electrical wiring, wall construction, plumbing and such. Read the policy very carefully and it probably covers the items already under warranty, just for a longer time period.

In short there really is no substitute for good factory support, dealers just do not have the knowledge or experience to pull off big jobs.

Just a final thought, I don't believe the unit should be bought for more than 60% of MSRP (If the seller still has the sticker on the unit).

Good luck on your decision.

Fred

Seriously, I would look elsewhere for the reasons mentioned above. IMHO

Hello and welcome. I'm sure this topic has been covered a few times but I'll throw my .02 cents in. Unless you are getting a steal of a deal and better than any other still in business RV maker, why would you? NRV built some really nice coaches and we are very happy with ours. If you are getting a warranty that is usable across the country and are getting a great deal, I would. If you are worried about replacement body parts and the like, think twice. All of the components will be covered by the manufacturer, the chassis by Ford or WorkHorse. What are you looking at and how much are they offering you off of MSRP?
