This is good news for all of us National RV Coach owners. With the demise of National, my only real concern has been the chance that I would damage a cargo door or at worst case have an end cap crunched.

The following information was published in the Dolphin Motorhome Club Newsletter:

During the auction of National RV's assets, Ortega Mfg. of Hemet, Ca purchased the fiberglass molds for all their models of 2008 and older "for the purpose of replacement products only."

They can be reached by phone at 951-766-9363.

Thanks for the info. This "Ortega" outfit has been mentioned before, but you, I think, are the first one to supply a phone #.

I printed it and put it in my "Dolphin" filing cabinet.

Thanks.

Bob I believe the "Dolphin Club" newsletter item supplied misleading information. Ortega did not purchase the front and rear cap molds, Monaco purchased those. I would conclude from the item that Ortega purchased the molds for the compartment doors.

I think that Ortega purchased all the front and end molds up to 2002. Just who got the more recent ones has not been definitely stated. I assumed Monaco got all of the molds from 02 to present?????

Anyone have other information???

Ortega is makeing 5 doors for me now. What bothers me about this place is they have never seen a National RV door but I guess I will have to use what ever they build, within reason of course. I'll let everyone know how they turn out. Oh by the way, 4-6 week wait.

Our '05 Dolphin is at The Paint Department, in Chino, CA., for repair to 3 bay doors. I talked to Ortega Manufacturing yesterday and they informed me that they have the molds for the bay doors, front & rear caps and a few other items up to 2007 for all National RVs. The 2008 molds, according to the auction info., were purchased by Monaco. Hope there isn't a 4 to 6 week wait to receive the doors.

Jeff,

Long story short. Coming back from Oceano last week, on the 101 Fwy. near Coldwater Cyn., two cars decided to move into our lane, a head of us, at the same time. Both cars swerved to avoid each other. An '05 VW Beetle, to the left side, went out of control and hit the center divider, head on, and bounced back into traffic taking out the left side, rear, 3 bay doors. Then went back into the center divider again, bounced off it and hit the Jeep toad. Only damage to the Jeep is the left side step and abrasion to both left alloy wheels. The girl in the VW was slightly injured (amazing) and the other driver kepted on going (low life). We were very lucky. It could have been worse.

Ed, Thank God you came through it OK. Since we own a body shop, we deal with accidents every day and know how awful they can be. The shop who has your coach are highly recommended.

Update on my doors from Ortega. "THEY ARE SWAMPED WITH ORDERS" is what they said. Boy what a gold mine they got when they purchasd those molds. It's been 5 weeks now since ordering.

We picked up our MH from "The Paint Department" in Chino, CA, last week, after 19 days in the shop. They did a beautiful job. To my amazement they rebuilt the 3 left rear fiberglass bay doors as they are fiberglass specialists. They did not need to have Ortaga Mfg. make new doors, which would have taken over 6 weeks to make. I can not even tell where the work was done. Yes, there are a number of specialists out there that can take care or our National RV coach repairs.
