I have the lubricatation and have located the Pac Brake. I have seen postings saying use a 12 volt jumper to cycle the Pac Brake but my unit has an air line and no 12 volt hookups. How do I lube the Pac Brake. Also should I disconnect the air line and add a few drops of lube?

Thanks, I made up a jumper cable to activate the pac brake and lubed it. For the person who wanted to know if it was electric or air it is air activated but the air selenoid is activated by 12 volts.

Thanks for the tip. My house & engine batteries are within reach of my PacBrake. Would I be correct in assuming that I should be able to activate the PacBrake by running a jumper wire from one of my 12V batteries to the solenoid?

Craig, I ran two different colored wires from one of the starting batteries. At the plug on mine when disconnected both of the wires on the brake were black but on the incoming side one was red and one was black so I assumed the red was hot and wired that way. You need to have your air pressure up and I had the ground already connected then I just touched the hot wire to the pin and it cycled.

I read a great idea on how to exercise the cylinder. The poster used rubber tipped air blow gun and applied it directly to the cylinder with the air line disconnected. I installed a switch in the front run bay to exercise the cylinder but a portable air tank with a blow gun is a pretty slick idea.

Thanks! I'll give that a try this weekend.

Hmm....not so sure I'd wanna mess with the air line. I'd be too afraid of contaminating it, but I like your aux. switch idea!

I sort of have a problem with lubrication of the Pac brake. If anyone has had one apart you will see that the bottom of the shaft sits in a well. I don't see here much of the lube can get down into that part of the unit. But moisture can accumulate in there and cause rust. I had to dis-assemble mine and use valve grind compound to clean out the pocket. I then mixed pac lube and hi temp anti sieze and put it in there. that was 40k miles ago and it still works. In my instructions they tell you to always make sure the engine temp is at running temp before shutting down to avoid rust.
