Pacifica slide bottom cracked...

Our 2008 Pacifica 40 ft quad slide has an issue, I will do my best to describe it.
The closet slide functions perfect, but while we were sitting out side, we noticed the plastic bottom of the slide "smooth and slippery" white material has cracked exactly where the roller contacts this material. Before I try to fix it........which im not sure how.....I guess I need to know why it failed. There are two rollers on each end of the slide and only one is broken thru the bottom causing the cracking.
The material that is inside of the cracked area is soft...wood like but not stable and solid. It looks like it has deteriorated. but there is no water in that area I can see when I removed the bottom drawers
.
Questons..

Do I have to replace the sub floor of the slide before I try to fix it?

Can I just rivet a piece of aluminum over the failed area?

If not riveting a patch how else can I cover the broken plastic material?

I thank you all for your help and ideas in this deal.

My Pacifica 36a bed slide sounds similar to your closet slide. Mine has scrapes under it also, but not cracked. I can't easily see the roller area. I would have to take apart the cabinet under the head of the bed. From what you're telling us, this is my input:

Do I have to replace the sub floor of the slide before I try to fix it?

Yes. If it's not providing support it needs fixed or it will happen again.

Can I just rivet a piece of aluminum over the failed area?

You probably could, but it might look a little tacky. That is probably your easiest way to repair it though. It looks to me, that if you want to replace the whole sheet of plastic, you need to remove all the angle pieces around the edge. At least they are attached with screws. It comes down to how much work you want to do.

Thanks SLK

I did kind of feel it will be worth the work, since we plan on keeping our MH as long as possible....just wondering if any others had done it any other way than what you suggested.
Thanks for your truth full advice. Now to find a sheet of the Teflon coated under slide stuff!!!

Thanks again

Dave
